Dishwasher Repair

Dishwasher leaking, not cleaning, or leaving standing water? I repair dishwashers across all major brands in Fort Collins.

Common Problems

  • Standing water in the tub at the end of the cycle
  • Will not start or powers on but nothing happens
  • Dishes come out dirty or not clean
  • Leaks at the door, along the bottom, or under the unit
  • Heated dry not working and dishes come out wet
  • Loud grinding or humming during wash
  • Cycle runs too long or never finishes
  • Error codes like F1E2, E15, LE, OE, or 9E

My Approach

I diagnose and repair dishwashers across all major brands. Typical work covers drain pumps, spray arms, door latches and microswitches, water inlet valves, float switches, heating elements, chopper assemblies, and control boards. Bosch units commonly throw the E15 error, which points to a leak in the base pan triggering the flood switch. Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Maytag dishwashers share a platform and tend to fail at the diverter motor or the electronic control. Samsung DW80 series has a well-documented history of pump and control board issues. When you call, have your model number handy so I can plan for the right parts on the first visit.

Try This First

Before you call, a few things are worth a quick try. If any of these fixes it, you save a service call. If not, give me a ring.

  1. 1

Run the garbage disposal before starting a cycle

On most installs, the dishwasher drains through the disposal path. A clogged disposal sends water right back into the tub.

  2. 2

Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub

Pull the lower rack out. Twist the filter assembly out from under the lower spray arm, rinse it under the faucet, and put it back. Most owners have never touched it and the grease buildup is the reason dishes come out dirty.

  3. 3

Confirm the Control Lock is off

The Control Lock button is often labeled with a small padlock icon and is easy to hit by accident. Hold it for 3 seconds to toggle.

  4. 4

    Rinse the spray arms

Pop the lower spray arm off (usually a pull or a quick twist), rinse the jet holes under the faucet, and reseat firmly. Scale and food buildup in the jets is a common poor-wash cause.

  5. 5

Run a hot tap at the sink before starting a cycle

The dishwasher uses the first fill as-is. If your kitchen tap runs cold for 20 seconds before getting hot, the cycle starts cold and cleaning suffers.

When to Stop and Call Me

A few signals mean stop using the appliance and call a technician. If you see or smell any of these, unplug the unit and reach out.

  • Water on the floor that returns after you mop it up
  • Burning plastic or electrical smell from the unit
  • The breaker trips when the dishwasher starts
  • Scorch marks or discoloration around the control panel
  • The same error code returns after a power reset at the breaker
  • Any leak that has reached the subfloor or cabinet bottom

How Long Should This Last

Average Service Life

9 to 12 years

If the repair quote is over half the price of a comparable new unit and the dishwasher is past 8 years, replacement is usually the rational call. Bosch and Miele often run on the longer end of that range; budget Frigidaire and the Samsung DW80 series run shorter.

All Major Brands

I service all major brands. If I can get the parts, I can fix it. Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, and more. No brand is too obscure.

Rocky Mountain Appliance Solutions turned out to be a great choice when our washing machine decided stop working. The repair person was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. He diagnosed the problem, explained the solution to me, and provided a very reasonable quote. It's also nice to know that I'm dealing with a local company and not some place pretending to be local.

I called Jake on a Monday, he was able to come Wednesday morning - took a look at my dryer, spent about 20 minutes going to get a couple parts picked up, installed them and voila! We are back in the laundry business! He was very prompt and professional. He goes over your repair costs up front too, and is able to take card payment. Great experience!
