Wall Oven Repair

Built-in wall oven not heating, showing errors, or stuck after self-clean? I repair single and double wall ovens across all major brands in Fort Collins.

Common Problems

  • Oven not heating to temperature
  • Bake or broil element burned out
  • Convection fan not spinning or making noise
  • Control panel errors like F1, F2, F3, F4, or F9
  • Self-clean cycle cooked the control board
  • Door will not unlock after self-clean
  • Door glass hot to the touch during bake
  • Double wall oven: one cavity works, the other does not

My Approach

I repair built-in single and double wall ovens across all major brands. Typical work covers bake and broil elements, convection fan motors, oven temperature sensors, control boards, door hinges and springs, door gaskets, self-clean latch motors, and cooling fans. Wall-oven self-clean cycles are especially hard on control boards mounted above or beside the cavity, and I treat self-clean as the single biggest avoidable cause of premature wall-oven death. KitchenAid, Whirlpool, and JennAir share a platform where the hinge assembly is a known repeat item. Bosch 800 series door-latch motors have their own service kit, and Wolf M series units remain the category's longevity outlier.

Try This First

Before you call, a few things are worth a quick try. If any of these fixes it, you save a service call. If not, give me a ring.

  1. 1

Check the 240V breaker and both legs

Wall ovens are direct-wired or on a junction box. Do not open the junction box yourself.

  2. 2

Inspect the door gasket for hardening or tears

Run the dollar-bill closure test. A weak seal adds 10 to 20 percent to bake time.

  3. 3

Listen for the convection fan during a convection bake cycle

A whining or grinding fan is a pre-failure signal. There is no serviceable bearing on brushless DC motors.

  4. 4

Power-cycle at the breaker for 60 seconds

Clears transient control faults. Do not reset repeatedly.

  5. 5

Calibrate oven temperature within the manual's range

Do not exceed plus or minus 35 degrees.

  6. 6

Skip self-clean as a diagnostic step

Self-clean is the leading cause of wall-oven control-board death.

When to Stop and Call Me

A few signals mean stop using the appliance and call a technician. If you see or smell any of these, unplug the unit and reach out.

  • Hot exterior door glass during bake (burn hazard, gasket or glass-pack failure)
  • Persistent F1, F2, F3, or F9 codes
  • Any smell of gas on a gas wall oven
  • Oven that runs and will not shut off (stuck relay on the control board)
  • Door locked after a self-clean attempt that will not release
  • Visible wiring-harness scorching at the back junction
  • Smoke or flame inside the oven with no food present

How Long Should This Last

Average Service Life

13 to 15 years

Premium built-ins like Wolf, Miele, and Thermador routinely reach 20-plus years with parts support. Because wall-oven replacement cost is much higher than a freestanding range, repairs retain value longer. Repair-favored even past year 10: elements, sensors, convection motors, hinges, gaskets, latch motors. A failed control board on a budget unit where the board alone costs half of a new oven is the typical replacement trigger.

All Major Brands

I service all major brands. If I can get the parts, I can fix it. Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, and more. No brand is too obscure.

Rocky Mountain Appliance Solutions turned out to be a great choice when our washing machine decided stop working. The repair person was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. He diagnosed the problem, explained the solution to me, and provided a very reasonable quote. It's also nice to know that I'm dealing with a local company and not some place pretending to be local.

I called Jake on a Monday, he was able to come Wednesday morning - took a look at my dryer, spent about 20 minutes going to get a couple parts picked up, installed them and voila! We are back in the laundry business! He was very prompt and professional. He goes over your repair costs up front too, and is able to take card payment. Great experience!
